Sweetcorn: Golden Bantam
Zea mays

Golden Bantam is an early and sweet non-hybrid which has been used as a basis for many of the modern hybrids that are available today. The kernel size is larger than modern types so it is really substantial and satisfying to eat. A real classic.

Kale: Black Magic
Brassica oleracea var. sabellica

Black Magic is a very well-maintained selection of Nero de Toscano kale. It is highly uniform for full-size production, with long, narrow leaves for attractive and tall, straight bunches. Good cold tolerance and bolt resistance for improved performance in UK climate. Young leaves are tender so can be used as baby leaf in winter salads too. Mature leaves are dark blue-green with beautiful savoy.

Carrot: Autumn King
Latin name Daucus carota subsp. sativus

Autumn King is a high-yielding main-crop carrot which has been a favourite for many years. It mature in the autumn but can be left in the ground and pulled as required through most of the winter. It stores well too.

Chicory: Rossa Di Treviso
Cichorium intybus

Rossa Di Treviso is a long leaved radicchio type. The long, pointed leaves start off green and develop a red colour as the season becomes cooler. The plants are tall and high-yielding and in Italy they will eat the whole plant; roots and all. Rossa Di Treviso can also be forced like a witloof type.

Kohl Rabi: Blue and White Delikatess Mix
Brassica oleracea gongylodes

Blue Delikatess gives nice blue/purple-skinned bulbs with crisp, white flesh. It is ideal for early sowings under-cover and for main-crop use outside. It has good bolt-resistance and is slow to go woody though should not be allowed to grow too large.

White Delikatess is a pale green, globe-shaped kohl rabi with white flesh. It matures fast and resists splitting and bolting. It is fast growing and can be succession sown from March to August for crops from May to October.

Attractive multi-coloured blooms float above airy foliage. Ideal for borders or containers flowering all summer and great for natural dyeing.
